Robinson Treymane presented to Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital with complaint of severe low back and leg pain, and physical examination pointed to motor and sensorial deficit in the left leg in addition to the active pain. Next, the patient was operated on for the herniated lumbar disc, and the patient could be mobilized and discharge in same day after a successful operation.


38 years old Robinson Treymane: “I am suffering from low back and leg pain for a few months. Recently, the pain aggravated and I started feeling loss of strength in my leg. Next, I started searching treatment; open surgery is carried out for herniated lumbar disc in the U.S. As a result of the search, I learned that different methods are instituted for this surgery at Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital and no stitch is used. I flew to Istanbul from Georgia/Atlanta in order to undergo surgery and I am now easily walking and discharged in same day. I wish I would travel to Turkey earlier rather than waiting for such a period. Turkey is a very developed country in terms of healthcare”.


Such Surgeries Are Successfully Carried Out

Assist. Prof. Soner Büyükkınacı, M.D., Neurosurgeon of Medicana Bahçelievler Hospital, carried out the surgery: “The patient was suffering from severe low back and leg pain for several months. And, the patient contacted us after the pain started occurring at shorter intervals and motor and sensorial deficits developed. A camera is inserted through a hole that is identical to a pen in thickness, and we do not use stitches. I would like to share my story with you because of the positive impact done by one of your employees Fatiha seringolge .
I fell this will add more to the hospital reputation and good customer reviews.

My brother Rabah Kasim was a patient at your hospital,
On November 16 they did hearts Catheterization and the doctor put 2 stents , everything went well, the second day he was released to his home.
I wasn't able to be with him because Of my own treatment so I left istanbul.
On November 18 I called my brother  several times to check on him he didn't answer!!
I called the hospital talked to Miss Fatiha seringolge wondering if my brother  back into hospital because he is not answering his phone calls for the entire day.
She answered me politely that her duty to help the patients inside the hospital only.
10 minutes after she called me back she was in the ambulance with my brother he had hemorrhagic stroke !!!!
This lady which I call her a guardian angel she went above and beyond to help someone she doesn't know, she is a real conscientious employee, she did it for the sake and love of God.

Kosovar Patient Who Cannot be Treated at Home Country Recovered Health in Turkey

Kosovar Hatixhe Gashi could not eat for 10 weeks due to a hole, measuring 4 cm in length, between the trachea and the esophagus, and lost 20 kg; she traveled to Turkey, as she was considered inoperable at the home country and she recovered her health following a successful operation in Medicana Çamlıca Hospital.

57 year old Kosovar Hatixhe Gashi presented to Medicana Çamlıca Hospital with a 4-cm defect between the trachea and the esophagus, and she recovered her health following a successful operation carried out at the hospital.

Assistant. Prof. Cüneyt Aydemir, M.D., the Deputy Chief Doctor of Medicana Çamlıca Hospital and the Thoracic Surgeon, stated that the 4-cm defect between the trachea and the esophagus is regarded as a major defect from medical perspective and that she was regarded as inoperable at home country. When she presented to the hospital, she was fed by a tube placed in the stomach for approximately 10 weeks and she lost approximately 20 kg, added Dr. Aydemir: “In bronchoscopy, a very large defect (4 cm) was found between the trachea and the esophagus and the esophagus herniated through the defect into the trachea, as esopahagus is soft in nature.”

The jaw is stitched to the chest

Dr. Aydemir stated that the patient was first prepared for the operation at Medicana Çamlıca Hospital, and he added: “First, the patient was prepared for the surgery; blood test parameters are managed and the nutrition is planned. Next, the patient is operated on and the defective site of the trachea is removed. We need to remove 3 tracheal rings in order to repair the hole that measured 4 cm in diameter. Next, two ends of the divided trachea were stitched to each other and we checked the air leakage, and finally, the esophagus was repaired. After the surgery was carried out, the jaw of the patient was stitched to the chest and thus, maximum attention was paid to avoid the dehiscence at surgery site. The patient was thus supervised approximately for 1 week. Next, jaw stitches are removed and the patient is gradually started on liquid foods. Now, the patient can eat whatever she wants without need to fear, breath easily and talk to her spouse.”


A revolution in the medical literature

2-year old Diba with a condition that is considered untreatable by many physicians abroad was surgically treated by a Turkish surgeon. Prof. Mehmet Salih Bilal, M.D., carried out a surgery to deal with all defects of Diba’s heart, including transposition of cardiac vessels, 5 holes in the interventricular septum, stenosis of pulmonary vessels and abnormal coronary artery.

HI to Medicana HQ and Medicana Sivas,

I wished to say my feelings for the pleasant session I had in Medicana Sivas today on 29 May 2017 at about 1030 hrs. to 1600 hrs.

Background:

  • My name is Mohamad Noor Bin Abdullah,
  • I am working in the TANAP project, I am an expat from Singapore.
  • I came to Medicana on the advice of my company doctor to be checked on my neck pain problems, my tooth ache, and my high blood problems.
  • I reached Medicana at about 1030 hrs. Went to the Patient Service Station and been greeted by Miss Figen Yilmaz (the Vice Manager of Patient services.


This is my observations:

  • Miss Figen can communicate in English, with smiles, however she referred to her Manager Mr. Mahmut Uysal who speaks fluent English.
  • I showed Mr. Mahmut my referral letter form my company and then he set the ball rolling by getting patient Miss Nurcan who brings form one station to another.
  • Mr. Mahmut started be sending me to the dental himself and checking me 2 or 3 times when I was there to see if everything is ok.
  • In the dental clinic I was greeted by the dentist Dr. Pinar Altunbas; she was smiling and try to understand the English word I am speaking, Mr. Mahmut came to help in translation. The nurse Miss Gulsah and the doctor then proceeded to do dental treatment which took 1 hr., massive filling be done on my half broken tooth.
  • I then went with Patient Service Officer Miss Nurcan Agtas, to various clinics for neck ultrasound, Neck X-ray, manual ECG, treadmill ECG, seen by Orto doctor Mustafa Kisa and Heart doctor Ismail Erdogu


These are the people who “Made my day well”:

The following are the people I met in Medicana today that makes my pain feeling less by their nice and professional attitude:-

  • Mr. Mahmut Uysal : he kept close communications with me as I crossed thru various places, He visited and seen me many times in many places and helps is some translation, offered drinks in seeing I am thirsty and after the treadmill exercise last section, offered a complimentary drink of coffee,
  • Miss Figen Yilmaz, she helped me in some translation and bothered to make call to contact my driver.
  • Dental clinics Dr. Pinar Yildirim: did her job well with little almost no pain, smiled and courteous, her nurse Miss Gulsah too.
  • Ortho dept: seen by Dr. Mustafa Kisa, he checked on my neck, then sent for neck X-ray. Then upon my revisit with x-ray results, Dr. Emre Cicekli is already present with him to be translator. Both of them said my neck is ok, only muscle spasm. They are friendly.
  • The heart Doctor Ismail Erdogu, he was pleasant to talk, he speaks good English and I managed it understand his words about my heart matters, the treadmill results, and the MRI scan. I will be seeing him again to report on the 24 hrs. Portable BP machine places on me.
  • Miss Nurcan (Patient Service): she is the busiest person who assisted me for almost 4 hrs. Sending me form one station for nurse checks and doctor clinics, waiting each time. I owed her much for this and she smiles all times.
  • ECG nurse: Miss Gulsah Kocoman, despite her not so fluent English, she still try to speak and managed to say 20 words English and even tried to translate for her friend, the Tread mill nurse Miss Mihriban Kartal. Both did their job on me in a nice and friendly approach. Treadmill nurse Miss Mihriban checked on me many times especially when the treadmill speed goes up to see if I am ok.


In summary:

I have been seen by at least 10 people in Medicana and I left the hospital happy with the nice people who greeted me and did their roles well.

I wished to extend special thanks to:

  • Mr. Mahmut Uysal (Patient Service Manager) on his professionalism, friendly manner to the patient (me), and the other is Miss Nurcan Agtas (Patient Service Officer), who worked half day of her job today, to assist me in various places of clinics.

I appreciated all these for an expat who do not speak Turkish and first time in Medicana.


Last but not least, the patient’s (me) anxiety and pain, is made much lesser through the presence of professional people I seen in Medicana today. Though this note takes me 45 mins to write, it is worth the effort to pen down good things.

I thanked Medicana for having the right people for the roles and hoped they will continue good job and wished Medicana good business presence.
